YouTube can make you sick?

Well YouTube can not make you sick but fake YouTube pages that are floating around the internet can give your computer a virus.  A program circulating online helps hackers build these fake pages.  If a user follows an e-mail pointing them to one of the pages, they would see an errors message that claims the video they want won't play without installing new software first. In that error message there will be a link that the hacker provided to a malicious program, that will in turn give your computer a virus.
The crime can then be hidden once the computer is infected.  The hacker can easily redirect the victims to a real YouTube page to see videos they were hoping to see.
Next time your checking out the latest YouTube video you heard about be careful to not click on a random link.  This can help keep your computer virus free during flu season.

This is another reason to own a Mac instead of a more vulnerable PC, right? Also, isn't it ironic that the creative minds of hackers can be as destructive and malicious as they can be useful and positive? I wonder what kind of innovative ways the programming "ingenuity" behind this kind of online hijacking/sabotage can instead be applied in productive ways?
