Free Music?

It seems that Myspace has been in negotiations with a few major music labels, and they are now offering free music.
As of this September, the Myspace Music feature will be new and improved. Myspace is planning on offering free music from any artist that you want that is part of Universal, SonyBMG, and Warner music, which according to CNN.com comprises about 77% of all the music that is out there now.
So what does this mean for some companies such as Amazon and other programs that require you to pay for music? We are not sure yet, but Myspace is hoping to get a lot of new customers because of this feature.
"Think about why people go to a music service," says Chris DeWolfe, CEO of Myspace. " They go to iTunes because they just want to get the songs and get out. Myspace is different. It's like going to your friend's house, and they have cool music playing in the background that makes the experience that much better."
The newest feature to Myspace music is that now, you can visit the musicians Myspace page, click the song that you like and you can create your own playlist on your page, and get the entire catalog of that artist if you'd like.
The only thing that Myspace needs to do in order to provide this free music service? Sell some ads. DeWolfe promises that Myspace music will have no problem selling as many ads as they need to stay alive.
It will be interesting to see what happens!
