Infrared Lie Detector - You're Lying!

Nope, not this time.  Traditional lie detectors have been used for years to lock up convicted prisoners, to gain "truthful" information in an investigation, and even to break up marriages on the Maury show.  The polygraph test works by measuring a respiration rate, heart rate and perspiration, but is not always accurate.

According to an article on newscientist.com, Scott Bunce, at Drexel University's College of Medicine in Philadelphia, "thinks a better solution is to send near-infrared light through the scalp and skull into the brain and see how much is reflected back."

By sending this light into the brain, the amount reflected depends on the amount of oxygen in the blood, which in turn tells how active the brain is.  This, according to Bunce, tells the real-time activity in the brain and can be used to tell if the subject is lying.

Here is a link to the patent application.  Check it out.

What do you think about this?  Be sure to tell the truth!!
